The month of March marks the beginning of Spring. And if you are from Vancouver, B.C. you know that the seasons here can be unpredictable. Luckily for Linda and Dave, the weather decided to bless them, and it turned out to be their most beautiful day ever. Even though not all the cherry blossoms had sprung, you knew Spring had arrived because love was in the air.
Linda and Dave met 14 years ago while walking their dogs in a park in Vancouver. You can read more about their story on how they first met here. There was nothing they wished more than speak their vows to each other and be married. But complications of Linda’s medical condition made realizing their dream difficult. Until they found out about A Wish to Wed society (AWW). AWW is a non-profit organization in Vancouver, that helps couples faced with a terminal illness see their dream to wed become a reality. When Linda and Dave applied for a wish granting, they told the AWW team their story.
Linda has been struggling with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), an illness with progressively worsening symptoms. But despite her condition, she has found the strength with her fiancé Dave, and the tight-knit community of the Saint Augustine’s Anglican Church. Linda’s most notable contribution is donating over 40 hand-knitted teddy bears for a local food bank to raise funds.
When the wedding time came around, the community came together to realize the couple’s dream. Saint Augustine’s kindly donated the venue for both the wedding ceremony and reception. And whenever help was needed, Linda and Dave’s friends didn’t hesitate to step up and help the AWW team of wedding professionals and volunteers. The entire wedding came together flawlessly and was a true success.
